To ensure the longevity of the ratchet face on the lock collar, the lock pawl is purposefully a softer metal than the hardened steel collar. By softer we mean 17-4 stainless steel, which really isn't that soft, but it will wear before the collar does by design. This is one replacement lock pawl with a new spring.
To replace your lock pawl, remove the nut from the bottom of the tri-lug assembly with a 1/4" socket (deep well typically works best), followed by the pull. Remove the two screws and the plate, slide the old pawl and spring out, and insert the new pawl and spring in the same orientation. Apply a small amount of medium threadlocker (Loctite 242 or similar) to the plate screws and new lock pawl threads, slide the plate over the threaded portion of the pawl, and reinstall the screws just until snug. Reinstall the pull over the lock pawl threads, and tighten the nut until resistance is met (the top of the pawl, not just the blade, should be above the inner diameter of the tri-lug housing).
